Jumbo Princess Castle Playhouse
Pros: It’s very beautiful on the outside with pretty princess colors. Secondly, it features a musical door handle, pretend clock and lots of castle detailing. Thirdly it’s a nice large size so more friends can play at the same time. Lastly this princess castle playhouse is fairly easy to assemble; it’s sturdy and durable.
Cons: Too tall to put inside for most homes. Secondly, there is no handle on the inside of the door so it’s hard to close the door from the inside. Lastly if it’s placed outside some of the sticker details can get damaged and they can’t be replaced.
Step2 Charming Cottage Kids Outdoor Playhouses
Pros: There is so much to do with this little cottage. First, it has a fireplace with sitting ledge, mantle with artwork, molded in sink, skylight, door bell, Dutch door, shelving, tabletop with two seats, two flower boxes and lots of open windows. Second, several kids can play together at the same time. In addition to it being fun it’s also sturdy and durable.
Cons: Most people have a hard time emptying the sink or window boxes.
Step2 Naturally Playful Storybook Cottage
Pros: This cottage has neat looking details with the molded stonework, thatched roof, window shutters and door. It also includes a kitchenette and table that folds up when not in use. In addition it includes an electric play phone and doorbell. This cottage is perfect for a toddler play area.
Cons: Not all outdoor playhouses arrive in perfect shape. Check in advance who you are ordering from to make sure you can get anything fixed if it doesn’t deliver in a good quality. (Happens in a few cases)
Step2 Sweetheart Playhouse
Pros: Pretty girly colors, electronic doorbell and phone, full sized door, working shutters, skylight, heart shaped flower box, convertible table, outside barbecue grill with clicking knobs. In addition it’s fairly sturdy and is the next best thing to a princess castle playhouse.
Cons: Not easy to put together and assembly instructions are not easy. Secondly, it’s fairly costly for what you get, but it’s cute.
Step2 Happy Home Cottage and Grill
Pros: Many windows so it’s great to watch little ones (Recommended age is 18 months-5 years) and it is great for a toddler play area. First this cottage has many features including a working doorbell, Dutch style door, mail slot and built in floor with drain holes. In addition to that there is a kitchenette, seat, fireplace, wall clock and fun play phone. Lastly it is sturdy and durable.
Cons: May take a good amount of strength to assemble.
KidKraft Garden View Outdoor Playhouses
Pros: First it’s a cute wood cottage with a working doorbell, phone with clicking buttons, and clock with movable hands. Second it has lots of windows to watch little ones, cute canopy, planter box, two chalkboards and two counters. Lastly, it’s made so that kids can pretend they have a cafe and serve food. In addition the roof is a more durable plastic.
Cons: 100% reviews, but only two reviews. I checked the internet and there are a few hundred reviews and they are good reviews (about 4.5/5). A few may arrive not in perfect condition.
Be Mindful Solid Wood Outdoor Playhouses
Pros: This outdoor playhouse is easy to assemble (a few are saying 45 minutes). Secondly it comes with several windows, Dutch door, and two planters for decorations. Thirdly it is prepped so you can paint it any color you prefer. Overall it is all wood (might be con for some) and is lower in cost generally.
Cons: Small in size, but is good for a toddler play area. In addition, a few may arrive damaged.
Backyard Discovery Sweetwater Wood Playhouse
Pros: First it has cute wood details and a Dutch door. Secondly it has many windows to be able to view your little ones. On top of that it’s easy to assemble. Overall it’s recommended for ages 2-6 years old.
Cons: Few people are saying the quality of the wood is not that great. Also, if you paint it the warranty expires.
Little Tikes Cape Cottage Outdoor Playhouses
Pros: The one on the left is an adorable pink and lavender playhouse. It has two working doors, two windows with shutters, mail slots and flag holders. Generally it’s low in cost compared to other outdoor playhouses. In addition to the pink one other color versions are listed below.
Cons: Little Tikes does not sell any flags to go with it. The plastic is lightweight and might be a little flimsy. In addition it’s a little small in size, but perfect for a toddler play area.
Playhouses Games and Activities
In this short blog there are several fun playhouses games. They are either free or usually games made with items that you might have already.
Object Hide and Seek
This game is a version of the traditional Hide and Seek game. It’s where one kid takes an object and hides it inside the playhouse while another kid counts to twenty and closes their eyes while standing outside of the playhouse.
There are so many great card games that can be taken into the playhouse to play. First is Memory, which is great for toddlers and little kids. Memory can even be played with a regular deck of cards by matching the numbers up. Secondly there are a collection of games that are great for ages 4 (or close to 4) and up such as Go Fish, Old Maid, War, and Slap Jack.
Puzzles and Coloring Books
There are so many large puzzle piece puzzles out there. It’s just a matter of finding one your little one likes. Secondly coloring books are really great, especially when you can teach the colors as your little one is coloring. Lastly there are coloring books that can allow your little ones to color without getting the color on anything else. An example of one collection is to the left.
